John S. Mello Jr.

New Bedford, MA. John S. Mello Jr., passed away unexpectedly Friday September 29, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce Ann (DaCosta) Mello of No. Dartmouth, Father of Brian J. and his wife Elisabeth of Raynham, Mass. Debbie Miller and her fiance Scott Reynolds of New Bedford, Brother of Wayne C. Mello of Acushnet and Carole Jones and her husband William of New Bedford, Grandfather of Angela Mello, Samantha and Deanna, Son in law of Humberto and Agnes(Moniz) DaCosta and also surviving are 7 Nieces and 2 Nephews.

Mr. Mello was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of his life. He is a son of John S. and Cecelia (Vieira) Mello. He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber as a Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 1991, He was the former proprietor of Tam and Todds Restaurant in So. Dartmouth and also worked on oil burners with his longtime friend John Sylvia. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of VietNam.

Funeral from the Perry Funeral Home Tuesday at 8:45 AM with a Funeral Mass Tuesday October 2, 2006 at The Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 10A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home on Monday.
