New Bedford – Matilde (Camara ) Britto died Saturday September 16, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital, unexpectedly after being stricken with a stroke. She was the widow of Antone P. Britto. Survivors include 1 daughter Carol M. Cabral and her husband Eduardo M. of North Dartmouth, 1 son Michael A. Britto of Seekonk and his companion Rena Harty. 7 grandchildren Dr. Chad M. Cabral of Burlington Ma, Trevor S. Cabral of Dartmouth, Todd R. Cabral of Dartmouth, Kristin M. Britto of Warwick,R.I., Rebecca L. Britto of Dartmouth, Melanie A. Britto of Cranston R.I., Meredith J. Britto of Dartmouth. She was one of twelve children. She is survived by a brother Joao Bapista da Camara of Ponta do Sol, Madeira, and a sister Beatriz Camara of Johansberg South Africa. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Britto was the daughter of the late Maria Goncalves (deCanha) and Jose da Camara. She was born in Ponta do Sol, Madeira, Portugal and lived in this area most of her life. She was the Proprietor of A&M Market on Rivet St.

Her Funeral will be Wednesday, at 8:45 A.M at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, S. Dartmouth, MA. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, from 5-9 P.M.
