Gil“Tio Gil Lapinha” Dealmeida

New Bedford, Gil DeAlmeida “Tio Gil Lapinha” aged 79 yrs, passed away Tuesday August 29, 2006, after a brief illness. He was the Husband of Maria (Estereiro) DeAlmeida and the Father of Ana Medeiros of Acushnet, MA., Antonio Almeida, Grace Costa both of New Bedford, MA. He was the brother of Natalia Madeira, Rodolfo Almeida, Berta Nunes, and Manuel Almeida all of New Bedford, MA.

Mr. DeAlmeida was born in Agua de Pau, St. Miguel, Azores and lived in this area since 1972. He is a son of Manuel and Maria De Lurdes Almeida. He was formerly employed as a Machine Operator at Berkshire Hathaway.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be 5 to 8 P.M., on, Thursday at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
