Somerset – John Patrick DeCambra, age 76, died Friday, July 14, 2006 after a long illness. He was the husband of Jeanne M.(Vaillancourt) DeCambra of Somerset. He is survived by his daughter LTC Carol J. DeCambra of Tiverton, RI. and 2 very special granddaughters: Nicole DeCambra of Colorado and Jennifer DeCambra of Worcester . He was the father of the late John P. “Jack” DeCambra. Mr. DeCambra is also survived by a sister Cora Silvia of Swansea, a brother Lawrence DeCambra of Somerset, a sister Constance “Connie” Haase of Texas and a sister Hilda Hartnett of Newburyport. His deceased siblings include Eugene, Anthony, Daniel E. and Francis DeCambra and Rena Souza and Christine Alonzo. Mr. DeCambra is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. DeCambra was born in Somerset, the son of the late Antone and Mary (Rego-Costa) DeCambra, and lived in this area all of his life. He was a plumber for over 50 years and a master plumber for most of his life. Mr. DeCambra was the plumbing inspector for both the Town of Somerset and the Town of Dighton for many years. He was also one of the co-owner’s of the Dighton Par 3 Golf Course. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. DeCambra’s Funeral will be from the Roger’s Funeral Home, N. Main St., at 8:45 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset at 10 A.M.. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours will be from 6 to 9 P.M. on Sunday evening at Roger’s Funeral Home. .
