Mary Cabral passed away June 22, 2006 at New England Medical Center. Born August 29,1928 in New Bedford, MA. where She was raised. She met Her beloved Husband , Edmund while He worked at the Green Diner in New Bedford,MA. and they were married in 1954. She moved to Dartmouth in 1967 where She lived most of her life prior to residing at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home since 2003. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in So. Dartmouth. She was employed as a stitcher at Paul Modes and Elco Dress Company. Later in life, She worked part-time at Stop and Shop and McDonald’s. Her real passion came when She worked as a Foster Grandparent at DeMello School in Dartmouth As a Foster Grandparent , She loved the children as well as loved reading to them.
Her favorite Hobby was Bingo, but she also enjoyed crafts and creating things with her hands, such as the wonderful Icelandic Sweaters She used to knit. She was very active all Her life and enjoyed traveling which included planning many bus trips to New York, especially the New York World’s Fair. She remained active during retirement which included membership in the Mt. Carmel Seniors and St. Mary’s Guild. She was a devoted wife and attended to her Husband’s medical needs for many years.
She was preceded in death by Her Husband Edmund L. Cabral. Survivors include her daughter Kathleen DeCampos and Husband Robert, a son Edmund L. Cabral Jr. and Wife Teresa, 4 Grandchildren: Robert DeCampos ll, Ryan and Lindsay Cabral and Timothy Medeiros all of South Dartmouth; a Sister Cecelia Brown of New Bedford, MA.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday June 27, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth, MA. Visiting hours will be Monday June 26, from 5 to 8 PM , at thePerry Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cabral Family to Benefit the employees of the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home
