New Bedford Maria daGloria Costa, age 89, died Thursday, June 22, 2006 , unexpectedly at home. Mrs. Costa was the wife of the late Manuel S. Costa. Survivors include 2 sons: John Costa of New Bedford and Joe Costa of Dartmouth, 2 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 4 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joao Carvalho of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Peter and Manuel Costa and sister of the late Mariana deArruda, Amelia Carvalho, Conceicao C. Senra, Maria C, Jeronimo, Carlos Carvalho, Jose Carvalho and Manuel Carvalho

Mrs. Costa was born in Britanha, St. Michael, Azores and lived in New Bedford for 43 years. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Augusta) Carvalho. Mrs. Costa worked as a stitcher at Paul Mode’s Inc,

Mrs. Costa's Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Saturday @ 8:00 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at Mt. Carmel Church @ 9:00 A.M. Burial at St. John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 6 – 9 P.M.
