Altina (Franco) Corte-Real

New Bedford – Altina (Franco) Corte-Real, aged 75, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Miguel Corte-Real of New Bedford. She was the mother of Joanna Faustino of Dartmouth, Filomenia Matos of Florida, Maria Pia Corte-Real of New Bedford, Grimanesa Travassos of East Providence, RI., Luis Corte-Real of TN., Miguel Corte-Real of Westport, Duarte Corte-Real of Sandwich and Vasco Corte-Real of New Bedford. She was the sister of Fortunata Cardoza of Florida, and Nuno Franco of Dartmouth and the late Adolph, Felicio, and Horacio Franco. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Corte-Real was born in Sao Miguel, Azores. She was the daughter of the late Arturo and Sophia (Medeiros) Franco. She lived in this area since 1969. She was a Nurses Aid at Kristen Beth Nursing Home until her retirement.

Mrs. Corte-Real’s funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Thursday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M.. Burial at St. John Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Wednesday from 4 - 8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home.
