Dominga Ramos

New Bedford – Dominga (Barros) Ramos, age 102, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Ramos.

Dominga was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Antonio Barros and Benvinda (Pires) Barros. She had worked on the assembly line for US Ring Binder for many years. She loved getting out of the house whenever she could, especially to go out for seafood dinners and driving out to Marion and sitting on the beach. Above all else she loved spending as much time as she could with her family.

Dominga is survived by her son, Steven A. Ramos Sr. and his wife Nanette of New Bedford; grandchildren, Mark and his Fiancé Jessica, Steven Jr. and his wife Kat, Duane and his wife Melissa, Stacy and her husband Cliff, Jessica and Tajuan; great-grandchildren, Aleah, Amani, Cassandra, Steven III, Jack, Devyn, Gianna, Mya and Kyle; nieces, Fatima of Cape Verde Islands and Alice of New York; her dear cousins Jean Barros and Priscilla DeBarros Cristostomo of Boston; Step-Mother Maria Barros; her God-Children Tommy Barbosa and James Lopes; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins;

She was predeceased by her late son, Michael Ramos; her late sister, Mary Silva; as well as her close cousins the late Edward Barros and John DeBarros.

Her family would also like to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff of South Coast Hospice care and the Jewish Convalescent Home of New Bedford for their tremendous care and service.

Dominga’s Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home on 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford, MA 02740, from 8:30 AM to 9:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held service at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on 47 S. Sixth St, New Bedford, MA at 10:00AM, with a Burial to immediately follow at St. John Cemetery on Allen Street in New Bedford.
