John Couto

John Couto, age 79 of Dartmouth, MA passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023 at the Royal of Fairhaven Nursing Center after a long illness.

He was born in Sao Miguel, Portugal to the late Jose and Maria Couto. He owned and operated Couto Landscaping for over 40 years up until his retirement.

John is survived by his wife Mary Lou Couto, one son, Steven and wife Sharon of Acushnet; three brothers, Eduardo Couto and his wife Helena, Jose Couto and his wife Leonora of Dartmouth, and Manual Couto and wife Maria of Ribeira Cha, Portugal; grandson, Brett Roberts, granddaughter, Justine Taylor, and 2 great- granddaughters, Alliana Taylor and Saphira Taylor; as well as a devoted sister-in-law, Fernanda Soares, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA on Monday, June 26th from 8:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth St., Dartmouth MA. Burial will immediately follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery.
