Jorge Martins

New Bedford – Jorge Martins, age 88, Passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. Jorge was born in Funchal, Portugal to the late Jose Martins and Lurdes Martins. He was the loving husband to the late Maria Martins, and worked as a shoemaker for many years with Alden Shoes.

Jorge is survived by his children, Ana Paula Vera and her husband Jim, Joe Martins and his wife Leida, and Ana Maria Cordeiro and her husband Antonio; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Mike, Christina and Matthew; and his great-grandchildren, Adriana and Brianna.

Jorge's visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. His funeral will take place Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford, MA 02746. A burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
