Mattapoisett – Our beloved Joanne "JoJo" Cabral passed away Sunday, May 7th 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family, and most of all her husband, Stephen Cabral, who adored her since they were fifteen years old. She was 70 years old.
Born on November 12, 1952 to the late Ray and Amy Gamache, she graduated in 1970 from Bishop Stang High school and went on to help with the opening of the family business, Stephen and Company. But her priority in life, her true calling, was being a mother to her three beautiful daughters. This is what she lived for right until her last moments. Her dedication to her daughters and her six grandchildren will go unmatched. What a beautiful soul she was!
JoJo and Stephen loved traveling to Mexico to spend time at their beautiful home which they built in San Pancho. She loved the Spanish culture, especially sipping on Margarita's. Her friends at home shared in her enjoyment of margarita's every time they got together. Going for rides in the white Ford Galaxy convertible had become as big as life around the community. You always noticed when they were driving by. In the summer, JoJo found comfort by the ocean with friends and family and was also a great artist. She was passionate about cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events and she cherished time in her yard surrounded by all that nature had to offer.
JoJo is survived by her husband Stephen Cabral, three daughters and son in-laws, Stephanie Sauve and husband Ryan, Julie Martin and husband Derek, Sarah Medeiros and husband Roy, her six grandchildren Luc Sauve, Max Sauve, Tyler Martin, Reid Martin, Sophia Medeiros and Maya Medeiros. Her sisters Jane Filipek and husband David, Lori Pettengill and husband Alden predeceased, her brother John Gamache predeceased and surviving wife Marybeth, brother David "DJ" Gamache and wife Leslie, brother in-law Raymond Cabral and wife Mary, brother in-law Michael Cabral, and many, many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a celebration of JoJo’s life on June 11th, 2023 starting at 1:00 in her sanctuary backyard, where she loved to sit in peace with her husband, family, and friends. All who knew JoJo or were touched by JoJo are welcome to come and have a Margarita on her behalf. We love you JoJo. Heaven gained an Angel!
