New Bedford – Princeton Amina, age 30, of New Bedford, MA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 21, 2023 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Ivette Cruz-Amina.
Princeton was born in New Bedford, MA to Robin (Amina) Lavoie. He had worked as a painter in the area for most of his life.
Princeton had a strong faith in God, and was a proud Christian. He found humor in almost anything and found a way to bring love and laughter to everyone he met. He loved his Hawaiian culture, which he expressed in his love for different music, traditions, and practices. He loved a variety of foods including Hawaiian, Hispanic, Chinese, Italian, and Soul food. At a young age, Princeton found his love and talent for music and played the ukulele, guitar, and piano. He was very proud of his accomplishments in karate, jiu jitsu, and taekwondo. Princeton's favorite things to do were riding ATVs and motorcycles, wrestling, sporting events, fishing, painting, collecting and watching movies, finding antiques, and most importantly loved being with his family, especially his wife and daughter.
Princeton is survived by his wife Ivette Cruz-Amina; His daughter Leilani Amina; His mother Robin Lavoie and her husband George Lavoie;His father Dennis J. Mendes; His brothers George G.S. Lavoie, and Joseph Lavoie; His sister Priscilla Lavoie-Tobey and her husband Brian Tobey; His Godson Brian Tobey Jr; as well as several other siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Princeton was predeceased by his brother Jason Lavoie.
Princeton’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Monday May 8th from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. His services will be held on Tuesday May 9th at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home, burial will immediately follow at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.
