Jose Pacheco Soares

New Bedford – Jose Pacheco Soares, age 86, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jo-Anne M. (Desrosiers) Soares.

Jose was born in Salga, Sao Miguel, Portugal to the late Jose Alfaiate and Maria Conceicao (Bulhoes) Alfaiate. He had worked as a presser for Cliftex for many years.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Jo-Anne Soares; his children, Connie Thatcher and her husband Robert and David Soares and his wife Annabella; grandchildren, Karlie Thatcher, Sydney Soares, Ashlie Thatcher and Jackson Soares; his child from another marriage, Linda Hansen; siblings, Francisco Alfaiate and Mary Martin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his late son, Joseph Michael Soares and his late siblings, Manuel Alfaiate, Jorge Soares and Arthur Soares.

Jose’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
