John Costa

New Bedford – John Costa, age 84, of New Bedford, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2023 with his loving family at his side.

John was the son of the late Joseph V. and Alice (Pimental) Costa. He is survived by his wife, Sandra DeCarlo and was the husband of the late Hilda (Lawrence) Costa.

John was a longtime resident of New Bedford, attended area schools, and retired from AFC after 50 years of service. He enjoyed many things, his garden, golfing, dancing and being with his dog Penny and family.

He leaves his wife, Sandra; a son, Michael J. Costa and his companion Kathy Hopwood, 3 grandchildren, Nicole Turcotte-Sylvia, Corey Costa and Cassie Larocque; his great-grandchildren, Sydney, Evan, Dylan, Lukas and Leeya; one great-great-grandchild, Carter; his brother, Gill and several nieces and nephews.

John was the father of the late Susan and Lynn Costa and brother of the late Joseph Costa, Gene Costa and sister, Lillian Silva.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

John’s visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
