Maria Celina (Morgado) Ferreira

New Bedford – Maria Celina (Morgado) Ferreira, age 85, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Ferreira.

Maria was born in Vila da Povoação, São Miguel, Azores to the late Mariano Morgado and Maria DoCarmo (Afonso) Ferreira. She had worked on the floor for Cliftex Corp. for many years. She had been a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Society.

Maria is survived by her son, Francisco Ferreira and his wife Delia of New Bedford, son, Jose Ferreira and his companion Ana Medeiros of North Dartmouth and daughter, Luisa Ferreira of New Bedford; grandchildren, Brandon Ferreira, Mathew Ferreira, Kayla Ferreira, MasonFerreira, Andrew Fonseca and Adam Fonseca and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Luisa Medeiros and her husband Silvester of Acushnet; her brother, Daniel Amaral and his wife Zenaida of Canada; sister-in-law, Maria DeDeus Cardoso of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
