New Bedford – Robert A. DuVal, age 82, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Janice (Kelly) DuVal.
Robert was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Armand DuVal and Irene Lonpre. He had served in the United States Army and later went on to work for Revere Copper & Brass for 42 years, where he started as a crane operator and moved to the foundry.
He had been a member of the New Bedford Track Club and played racquetball 5 days a week. Robert was known for his contagious laugh and loved traveling the world with his wife, Janice. In his later years, he would hold court in his dining room with family and friends to discuss the latest world events and have a drink.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his loved daughters, Michelle DuVal and her partner Vincent Medeiros and Christine Collins and her husband Mark; his grandchildren whom he adored, Brittni Collins, Dr. Jessica Collins, Hayden King and Phoebe King; his brother, William Turbak; as well as several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
He was the loving grandfather of the late Nathan R. King.
In lieu of flowers, he would have wanted everyone to have a drink or consider an act of kindness in honor of his memory.
Robert’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral home on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place Tuesday morning, beginning at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home and followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 11:00 A.M. Cremation will follow.
