Maria Ana (Cunha) De Sousa

New Bedford – Maria Ana (Cunha) de Sousa, age 90, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel A. de Sousa.

Maria was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores to the late Luis “Lafononso” Cunha and Ana Z. (Almeida) Cunha. She had worked at Carol Cable for many years.

She is survived by her 3 children, Natalia C. Prevost and her husband Louis, Steven DeSousa and Gilbert DeSousa and his wife Ana; 6 grandchildren, Kayla Prevost, Bryan Prevost, Austin DeSousa, Cameron DeSousa, Logan DeSousa and Dylan DeSousa; great-grandchildren, Kayliana Machado and Adrian Machado. She is also survived by her sister, Maria F. Matos of Vancouver; sisters-in-law, Maria S. Pereira and Maria C. Baganha; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her late sister, Maria E. Pereira.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
