Joao F. Pimentel

New Bedford – Joao F. Pimentel, age 74, of New Bedford, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (Amaral) Pimentel.

Joao was born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel, Azores to the late Jose Jacinto Pimentel Jr. and Silvana L. Pimentel. He had worked over the years as a machine operator for AFC Cable. He loved spending time with his family, watching soccer, especially his favorite team Benfica.

He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine; his daughters, Christine Carrier and her husband Aaron, Joanne Ponte and her husband Jason and Nicole Pimentel and her companion John Coffey; his grandchildren, Quinn, Reese, Lucas and Jacinda; sisters-in-law, Ana Do Rego Pimentel and Maria do Carmo Pimentel; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Do Rego Pimentel and Antonio Pimentel.

Joao’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St John’s Cemetery.
