Irene Macedo

New Bedford – Irene Macedo, age 85, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Macedo.

Irene was born in New Bedford, and was the beloved daughter of the late Antone Carreiro and Maria (Ponte) Carreiro. She worked for many years doing clerical work at the Dartmouth Assessor’s office.

Irene is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Macedo and his wife Dr. Judith Miesner, and Paul T. Macedo; her grandchildren, Johnathan Thomas Macedo Esq., and Evan Thomas Macedo; and her sister-in-law Marge Carreiro; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, John Carreiro, Elsie Desmaris, Mary Mello, Sandy Lewis, Joseph Carreiro, and Emily Borges.

Irene’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 8:30AM to 10:30AM and followed followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Julie Billiart Church at 11:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
