Israel Hernández Santiago

New Bedford – Israel Hernández Santiago, age 87, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marie Acevedo Medina.

Israel was born in Moca, Puerto Rico to the late Eusebio Hernández and Natividad Santiago. He had worked for the Gas Company for many years.

He is survived by his wife Marie Acevedo Medina; children, Janet Hernández, Zulma Hernández and Israel Hernández, grandchildren, Jose Ruiz, Dimex Ruiz, Jonathan Ruiz, Jayron Ruiz, Giovanny Cortez, William Cortez, Miraida Hernández, Estermarie Hernández, Israel Hernández, Argely Hernández, Naisha Vera and Jor A. Mercado. Also survived by his siblings, Grecia Hernández, Irma Hernández and Ana Luz Hernández.

Israel was predeceased by his late daughter, Nancy Hernández, his late granddaughter, Lynette Ruiz and his late brother, Carlos Hernández.

Israel’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place Tuesday morning in the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 A.M. with a service to be held at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
