Jose De Melo

New Bedford,MA.- Jose De Melo died, Thursday, May 25, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the brother of Maria S. de Melo of South Dartmouth, and Baltazar Soares Rebello of St. Michael, Azores, Portugal.

Mr. DeMelo was born in Lomba de Sao Pedro, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He was the son of the late Maria S. (Oliveira) and Manuel Soares Andre. He lived in this area since 1981. He was a Machine Operator for a rope factory until his illness forced him to retire.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Family and friends are welcome to meet at the Perry Funeral Home at 9:30 A.M. Visiting hours are Friday May 26, 2006 from 6-9 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
