Gilbert Simmons

New Bedford – Gilbert Simmons, age 93, Passed away July 19, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Gilbert was the loving husband of Natalie J (Fonseca) Simmons.

Gilbert was born in New Bedford, and was the son of the late Julio Simmons and Julia Simmons. He worked as the Chief Stockman with Hemingway Transport. Gilbert was also a member of the AMVETS organization and Teamsters Union.

Gilbert is Survived by his wife Natalie Simmons; his daughter Deborah Vaughan and her husband Steven; his grandchildren Ryan Vaughan, Matthew Vaughan, and Patrick Vaughan; his great-grandchildren Jack Vaughan, Forrest Vaughan, and Grant Vaughan; his sister Veronica Coelho and her recently deceased husband George; his niece Linda Stevens; and his nephew John Coelho.

Gilbert's Family would also like to thank Autumn Glen Assisted Living Facility for their care and compassion.

Gilbert’s Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 10:30AM, With a luncheon to immediately follow at the Century House.
