Jose Manuel Medeiros Fernandes

Dartmouth – Jose Manuel Medeiros Fernandes, age 62, of Dartmouth passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Gladis (Stumpf) Fernandes.

Jose was born in Povoacao, St Michael Azores and was the son of the late Eduarda (Medeiros) and Manuel Fernandes. While serving in the U.S. Navy he fell in love with the sea. He was a captain of several fishing boats for most of his life and enjoyed fishing on his free time. He also had a love for gardening and was an excellent cook. Joe is known to have had a big heart and always wanted to do all that he could to help others.

Jose is survived by his wife, Gladis; his daughter, Lynda Fernandes; his brother, Dennis C. Fernandes and his wife Manuela and his sister, Rosa M. Fernandes.

Jose’s visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Cremation to follow.
