Jose Furtado

New Bedford – José Pimentel Furtado, age 87, of New Bedford, MA, passed away at Hathaway Manor on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria A. (Medeiros) Furtado.

José was born in Feteira-Pequena, Santana, Nordeste, São Miguel, Açores and was the beloved son of the late Manuel Furtado Silva and Alexandrina (Pimentel) Silva. He had worked as a machine operator for International Dryer for many years.

José is survived by his wife Maria; sons, Joe M. Furtado and his wife Ana Isabel, and Carlos A. Furtado and his wife Eduarda; grandchildren, Melissa (Furtado) Rocha, Jonathan Furtado, Bruno Rocha, Veronica C. Furtado, Larissa C. Furtado, Lysandra C. Furtado, Zachariah C. Furtado and Nathaniel C. Furtado; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Rocha and Myah Rose Fortin-Furtado; his sister, Margarida Valeiro; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was the brother of the late Manuel P. Furtado, Maria dos Anjos Aguiar and Zacarias Furtado.

Jose’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. His funeral will take place on Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
