Geraldine I. (Ponte) Aylward

New Bedford – Geraldine Aylward, age 73, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2022. She was John Aylward’s loving angel in marriage for 52 years.

She was the daughter of the late George and Elsie Ponte and the mother of Stephanie Lynette Holmen, who passed away much too early in 2013.

Survivors include her brother, George; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Joyce; grandchildren, Shane and Erynn and many nieces and nephews.

Geraldine loved to travel with her husband, especially the home of her family’s heritage in Portugal, Sao Miguel, Azores and Great Britain. She also enjoyed culinary cooking, fine dining and shopping as much as possible.

Geraldine’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will take place Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth. All attendees are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please provide a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
