Serafim S. Lopes

Lakeville – Serafim S. Lopes, 81, of Lakeville and formerly of Portugal, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Guerra) Lopes.

Serafim was born in Melo, Portugal and was the son of the late Arminio Lopes Carvalho and Maria J. DaSilva. He had worked as a carpenter for many years. He liked to watch soccer, especially his favorite team Sporting, having a glass of wine and working in the garden. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria C. Lopes; his three sons, Arminio Lopes and his wife Michelle, Luis Lopes and his wife Doreen and Robert Lopes and his wife Caroline; 9 grandchildren, Jacob, Corey, Jeffrey, Casey, Nathan, Savannah, Olivia, Richard and Phillip and 1 great-grandson, Emmett; his siblings, Antonio Lopes, Jacinta Teles and Arminda Teles.

Serafim’s visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will take place on Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:45 A.M. and followed by a Liturgy of the Word at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, formerly known as St. Mary's Church New Bedford, at 11:00 A.M. Cremation to follow.
