Rhode Island – Shirley M. (Mello) Rodrigues, 86, of New Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at The Cedars in Cranston.
Shirley was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Manuel C. Mello and Gladys (Rollins) Mello. She had worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Sacred Heart Nursing Home for many years. She had been a member of the Bliss Corner Senior Citizens of Dartmouth and had also been a volunteer at the YMCA.
She was the beloved wife of Raymond Rodrigues; devoted mother of Sheryle Rodrigues and her partner Candie Mendes of Acushnet, Brenda Rodrigues of Cranston, RI, Patricia Brum and her husband Antone of Dartmouth and Glen Rodrigues and his fiancé Krystal of Boston. She also leaves behind, 4 grandchildren, Sherri, Keisha, Kelly and Eva; 3 great-grandchildren, Shiloh, Malakai and Bella, a sister in law, Jackie Mello and niece, Karin Mello.
Shirley was predeceased by her late brother, Manuel “Sonny” Mello, nephew Duane and niece June.
Shirley’s visiting hours and funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. with a service to take place at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
