Edith M. (Carter) Lima

New Bedford – Edith M. (Carter) Lima, age 91, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Her compassionate spirit and passion in life were caring for others. She especially enjoyed sitting by the pool, cookouts and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s enthusiasm. Reading a good book or engaging in a daily crossword puzzle was her comfort areas.

At the age of 86, Edith took to the computer and learned Facebook, where she enjoyed the interaction with all of her family and friends, as well as online shopping.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert M. Lima; her son, Bob and his wife Debbie; her daughter, Sandy and her husband Richard; as well as her granddaughter, Laurie DesRoches and her husband Eli; her grandsons, Alex, Richard, and the late “Bobby” and also her many great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff from hospice and all of her loving friends especially “Donna” who were all instrumental in her comfort.

All are invited to her visiting hours on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home on 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford. A private family service and burial will follow on Monday in Pine Grove Cemetery.
