Maria S. (Azevedo) Silva

New Bedford – Maria S. (Azevedo) Silva, age 88, of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Silva.

Maria was born in the Azores, Portugal and was the loved daughter of the late Manuel Azevedo and Francisca (Pacheco) Azevedo. She had worked as a stitcher for Paul Modes Clothing Manufacturing and Riverside Manufacturing Co.

Maria is survived by her children, Vidalia Adaes and her husband Manuel, Jose Mare and his wife Vicky, Paul Mare, M. Clara Rozario and her husband Manuel and John Mare and his wife Terrie; grandchildren, Jason Adaes, Melissa Mare, Jennifer Mare Estereiro and her husband Jacob, Scott Adaes, Tiara Rozario, Tyfanny Mare, Justin Mare, Jeremy Mare and Tyler Rozario; great-grandchildren, Jala, Vondie and Tylee. She is also survived by her siblings, Manuela DeMello, Rosa Farizo, Fernanda Vieira, Jamie Azevedo, Alvaro Azevedo, Luis Azevedo and Oliverio Azevedo.

Maria was predeceased by her late siblings, Lilliana Bergentine, Teresa Rodrigues and Artur Azevedo.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Sunday evening, March 20, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Monday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
