Dartmouth – Maria do Carmo (Rego) Almeida, age 87, of Dartmouth passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Henrique R. de Almeida.

Maria was born in Ribeira Quente, St Michael Azores, Portugal and was the beloved daughter of Manuel Rego and Maria do Carmo (Lima) Rego.

Maria is survived by her daughters, Nancy Lawson and her husband Wayne, Deborah Gomes and her husband Michael, Linda Chouinard and her husband Marc, Katherine Tsonis and her husband Chris; her son, Henrique Almeida; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings Manuel Peixoto, Jose Rego and Adeline Perry and was predeceased by several siblings.

Maria’s visiting hours and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Visiting hours will be held At Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. with her Mass to begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
