Jose Augusto Da Silva

New Bedford – Jose Augusto da Silva, age 80, of New Bedford, Massachusetts passed away on Sunday, December 19th, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Angelina (Oliveira) da Silva.

Jose was born in Murtosa, Portugal and was the son of the late Ezequiel da Silva and Julia de Jesus da Silva.

He worked as a Commercial Fisherman for a variety of fishing vessels. During his retirement, he would be found working on his vegetable garden and watching soccer games.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angelina da Silva; his son Antonio DaSilva and wife Susan DaSilva; his grandchildren Jessica L. DaSilva and Antonio DaSilva Jr. aka A.J.

He is also survived by his brothers, Joao da Silva and Joaquim da Silva, both from New Jersey; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his late siblings; Armando da Silva, Julia Resende, Maria Resende, and Ezequiel da Silva.

A memorial service and visiting hours for Jose will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Visiting hours will be held from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed with a Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M.
