Jose Defrias

Dartmouth – Jose deFrias, age 87, of Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Diamantina (Correia) deFrias.

Jose was born in St. Michael, Azores and was the son of Francisco Frias and Maria daEstrella Silva. He had worked as a machine operator for Chamberlain Manufacturing for many years.

Jose loved spending time with his family and his most cherished time and special joy was spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diamantina deFrias; his children, Manuel Francisco deFrias, Jose Augusto deFrias and Julieta Maria Arruda and his grandchildren, Kristina Arruda, Monica Arruda and Nicholas Arruda; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his late siblings, Liduina, Maria deLurdes, Eugenia, Conceicao, Jorgina and Antonio.

Jose’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will take place on Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
