Cruz (Crusita) M. Mendez

New Bedford – Cruz (Crusita) M. (Vega) Mendez, age 88, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Norberto Mendez.

Crusita was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico to the late Raphael Vega and Luisa Lugo. She had worked as a Paraprofessional for Gomes School in New Bedford for many years.

Crusita is survived by her daughter, Marina Silva; her grandchildren, Alyssa Silva and Nathan Silva and his fiancée Karissa Camuti; 2 great-grandchildren, Jameson Silva and Julian Silva all of New Bedford; Jared Ramos; as well as her son-in-law, Vitalino Calel.

She was also the mother of the late Narda Mendez-Calel.
