Dennis W. Sumner

New Bedford – Dennis W. Sumner, age, 59 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Karen Lynn (Buckles) Sumner.

Dennis was born in New Bedford, MA to William Walter Sumner and Margaret Mary (Linfield) Sumner. He had been a self-employed carpenter for many years. He loved cooking, fishing, random water fights with the grandchildren, fixing houses, spending time with his grandchildren was the highlight of his life, he also had a dry sense of humor and was very sarcastic, and laughed at all of his own jokes even when no one was laughing.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen (Buckles) Sumner (New Bedford); sister, Linda (Sumner) Brodeur (Freetown); his children, Vanessa Pellerin, husband Chad Pellerin (Louisiana), Tiffany Sumner, (New Bedford), Diane DaPonte, husband Daniel DaPonte (Fairhaven), Mark Bilfulco, (Assonet), Christy Brown, (Indiana from previous marriage); grandkids, Arianna Gagne, Dannylynn DaPonte, MaKayla Sumner, Sabrina DaPonte, Selena DaPonte, Nae’lani Santiago and many, many, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly .

Dennis’s funeral arrangements were private.
