Maria G. Amaral

New Bedford – Maria G. (DeSousa) Amaral, age 85, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at St Lukes Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Miguel Amaral of New Bedford.

Maria was born in Ajuda, São Miguel, Azores to the late Luiz Benevides DeSousa and Helena (Alves) DeSousa. She had worked for many years as a stitcher for Easton Sportswear.

She is survived by her sons, Michael S. Amaral and Robert S. Amaral and his wife Rhonda; grandchild, Nicholas R. Amaral; her sister, Helena Cabral; as well as many nephews and nieces. She was also the sister of the late Luiz DeSousa.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Her funeral service will take place on Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
