Dartmouth – Cynthia (Rapoza) Karl, age 77, of Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at CareOne at New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward R. Karl Jr.
“Cindy” was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph S. Rapoza and Marion S. (Cunha) Rapoza. She had worked as an office manager for several local car dealerships over the years.
Having been a lifetime resident of Dartmouth, Cindy was a member of St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth, where she served on the Parish Council and other various committees. As president of the Dartmouth Girls Little League (DGLL) from 1976-1990, she made an impact on many young lady athletes in Dartmouth. In service to her community, Cindy was a member of the Dartmouth Town Meeting and the Dartmouth Recreation Commission.
Cindy had been a devoted and faithful band parent from 1982-1991. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her family, and friends, playing card games and was an avid sports fan.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Edward J. “Teddy” and Karen (Sanchez) Karl of St. Louis, Missouri; Todd P. and Ann (Blanchette) Karl, of Westport; and Tracey L. Karl of South Dartmouth. “Gramma” truly enjoyed her grandchildren, Ethan C. Karl, Zachary T. Karl, Victoria M. Karl and Dylan E. Karl. Cindy is also survived by her brother Joseph G. Rapoza, as well as nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Cynthia’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
