Americo "Mac" Or "Moxie" Fernandes

New Bedford – Americo a.k.a. “Mac” or “Moxie” Fernandes, age 97, of New Bedford passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Lidia (Pacheco) Fernandes.

Born in New Bedford, MA he was the beloved son of the late Jose and Mary (Marcelino) Fernandes. Mac was a United States Navy Veteran who had served during World War II on the USS Reeves, Hawkins and Cornell destroyers. He worked at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 42 years, until his retirement.

He was the brother of the late Ernest Fernandes, John Fernandes and Dolores Martin. He is survived by his niece Cynthia Gajewski of Torrington, CT and his nephew Brian Fernandes of Dartmouth, MA.

As per his request, his services were private.
