Maria (Arruda) Camara

New Bedford – Maria (Arruda) Camara, age 87, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Massachusetts. She was the beloved wife of the late Augustino Perreira Da Camara.

Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores, to the late Joao Mateus Arruda and Maria De Lurdes Arruda. She had worked as a spot welder for Cornell Dubilier for many years.

Maria is survived by her children, Helder F. Camara and his wife Viviata, Carlos A. Camara and his wife Maria, Elvira Arruda and her husband Fernando and Pedro Camara and his wife Karen Bourque; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Fernando, Antonio and Jose Arruda.

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 Her visiting hours will be held from 8:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Parish at St. James at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
