New Bedford – Lawrence McClain, age 73, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA.
Lawrence entered this world on November 29, 1947 in Andrews, S.C. Lawrence was the oldest of 8 siblings. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Navy.
Lawrence had a great personality, he loved to joke around. He was a caring and gentle man and he was also very generous.
Lawrence leaves behind his son, Lawrence McClain, Jr.; 2 brothers, Leroy Jr. and Walter Woodard and 4 sisters, Fannie Bell Woodard, Judy Strickland, Stella M. Gorenstein and Linda Pryor Williams; as well as 5 nieces and 6 nephews. He also leaves behind his partner of 22 years, Cindy Porter.
Lawrence transitioned to meet up with his sister, Margaret Blow and his brother, James Sumpter along with his mother, Emily and father, Leroy Woodard Sr.
Lawrence’s visiting hours and service will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
All attendees are required to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this time.
