New Bedford – Aldina (Da Costa) de Melo, age 93, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Silvestre de Melo.
Aldina was born in Salga, St. Michael, Azores, to the late Abel Da Costa and Maria Jacintha (Mourena) Da Costa. She had worked at a local clothing manufacturer for many years.
Aldina is survived by her children, Duarte de Melo and his wife Fatima, Joe de Melo, Humberto de Melo, Olga Silvia and her husband Frank, Maria Vieira and her husband Tony, Niveria de Melo and George de Melo; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Aldina’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 5:00 P.M – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
