Maria V. Lopes

New Bedford – Maria V. Lopes, age 87 of New Bedford, passed away on February 9, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joao Lopes. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Catarina Vieira Lopes.

She is survived by her children, Elisa Depina, Ana Maria Lopes, Jose Lopes, Adriano Lopes and Carlos Lopes; sister, Judith Baptista; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening, February 16, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place on Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Assumption at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home. Attendance at the church and the cemetery will also be limited in order to meet their mandated capacity restrictions as well. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this time.
