Manuel M. Cosme

New Bedford - Manuel M. Cosme, died March 17, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital New Bedford MA. He was the husband of Angelina M. (Medeiros) Cosme of New Bedford MA. He was the father of Donald Cosme, Odette Mendonca both of Dartmouth MA., Lubelia “Luby” Feyen of Leamington of Onterio Can., and Jake Cosme of Lakeville, MA. Mr. Cosme was the grandfather to Ruby Chece of Lincoln, RI., Sueann Costa of Somerset, MA., Jessie Cosme of Dartmouth MA., Donald Cosme jr. of Somerset, MA., Walter Mendonca of St. Albins Me., William Mendonca of Dartmouth, MA., Catherine Linhares of Dartmouth MA., Sandra Roger of Lake Mary, Fla.., Kimberly Feyen of Medford, Ma.., and Candice Cosme of Dartmouth. He was the brother of Margaret Xavier, Maria Cardosa both of New Bedford MA., and of the late Elvira Cosme, Sofia Costa, Cecelia Cosme, Joseph and Gil Cosme. He also had several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cosme was the son of the late Jose Medeiros and Joanna (Medeiros) Cosme. He was born in Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and has lived in this area for 50 years.
Mr. Cosme was a Machine Operator for Mickey Maddens. He was the first treasurer of Our Lady of Remedies constituted in 1957 by 2 villages Lombas do Loucao and Lomba Do Alcaide, in the town of Povoacao, Soa Miguel Azores before coming to the United States.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 20, 2006 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be 5 – 8 P.M. Sunday on, March 19, 2006.
