Sonia J. Forty-Cardenas

New Bedford – Sonia J. Forty-Cardenas, age 62, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Guido G. Cardenas.

Sonia was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to Carlos Forty and the late Tomasa Torres-Osorio. She had been a C.N.A for the Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts Senior Care Division.

Sonia loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with them. She also loved cooking and caring for others. She loved caring for others so much and she spent her life caring for children that were left to the system and made sure they had a family. She was truly a blessing and will be remembered for the big heart she had. She will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her 6 children, Jovanny Rodriguez, Yailka, Joshua, Joachim, Kiara and Keyla Forty-Cardenas; 8 grandchildren, Jarell and Karyn Rodriguez, Jarien, Aydan, Aniel, Jaryana and Adriel Cardenas and Jayden Cormier; a sister, Awilda Forty; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Carlos Forty.

Sonia’s funeral arrangements are private.
