Palmeda F. (Thomas) Cairns

New Bedford – Palmeda F. (Thomas) Cairns, age 82, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. Cairns.

Palmeda was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Arthur F. Thomas and Mary C. (Amaral) Thomas. She had been a bar manager at the Ward 5 Club for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Cheryl Ann Grundy; grandchildren, Justin W. Grundy, Ross Allen Pacheco and A.J.; brother, Arthur F. Thomas; sister-in-law, Barbara Cassidy and her husband Steve and all of their family. She was also the sister of the late Agnes F. Thomas and Madeline Thomas.

Palmeda’s visiting hours and memorial service with her cremains will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 9:45 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. with a service to take place at 10:45 A.M. Burial of her ashes will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
