Karol Roberts

Dartmouth - Karol Roberts of North Dartmouth, MA was welcomed into the arms of angels on November 21, 2020. She was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Roland Alfred and Constance Josephine (Melanson) Roberts.

Karol was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, MA and went on to attend Southeastern Massachusetts Technical Institute, Georgetown University, UMass Dartmouth (formerly SMU) and Johnson & Wales University Culinary Arts Program. She lived in Beverly, MA, Groton, CT, and (her favorite) Ewa Beach, Hawaii before settling in North Dartmouth.

She is survived by her son Kyle Spear and his wife Tracy of Swampscott, MA; three grandsons, Kyle Anthony, Tyler Lucas and Jack Henry Spear all of Swampscott, MA; twin sister Karen (Kip) Kaminski of Canterbury, NH; brother Mark Roland Roberts of Naples, FL; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ms. Roberts was a kind and gentle soul who worked tirelessly devoting herself to helping disabled children and their families throughout her lifetime. She spent her early career as a program director and recreational therapist working with behaviorally challenged children and adolescents. She went on to work as a Child & Adolescent Coordinator for many years in the Fall River office of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services, where she was proudly instrumental in developing the Family Coalition for Medically Involved Children, a grass roots parent support organization. She was in infant massage therapist and Reiki practitioner to non-verbal children. Karol loved children, the ocean, animals, the morning just before sunrise, and especially preparing beautifully appointed culinary feasts for her friends and family.

At Karol’s request, there will be no services. The family would like to thank the staff at The Cottages in Dartmouth Village and New England Hospice for their caring, kindness and dedication to Karol. In lieu of flowers, Karol would ask that we always be kind and inclusive and remember to spread love in her name.
