Raquel Machado

New Bedford – Raquel Machado, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 after a long hard-fought battle with Emphysema and C.O.P.D. at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Terceira, Portugal, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leonel and Maria R. (da Silveira) Machado.

After completing her education in Terceira, she moved to Canada for several years and ultimately moved to New Bedford, MA in 1971. She had worked many years as a chemical operator and fiberglass technician.

After retiring, Raquel enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was definitely the jokester of the group. She loved to make people laugh, as she believed laughter was the best medicine.

Raquel was a devoted and loyal friend and loved helping everyone at any time.

Raquel leaves behind two loving sisters, Orlanda Mariante and her husband Manuel and Noelia Santos and her husband Joao; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition, Raquel leaves behind an ample number of lifelong friends that will greatly miss her!

Raquel’s funeral services are private.
