New Bedford- Manuel Tavares died Saturday March 11, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the Husband of Artemesia (Fontes) Tavares. Survivors include his Children; Julietta Tavares of Cambden, Maine, Ana Tavares of New Bedford, Ma., Mariana Botelho of New Bedford, Ma., Mariano Tavares of New Bedford, Ma., Maria Jewell of New Bedford, Ma., Edward Tavares of New Bedford, Ma., Joseph Tavares of New Bedford, MA., Gina Brum of New Bedford, MA., Jaime Tavares of New Bedford, Ma. His Sisters Julieta Nunes of New Bedford, Ma.and Conceicao Ventura of New Bedford, Ma., He was also survived by 12 Grandchildren,7 Great Grand and several Nieces and Nephews. He was the Father of the late Ana Conceicao Tavares, Joao L. Tavares and Joseph Tavares. And Brother of the late Jose Tavares.

Mr. Tavares was the Son of the late Maria C. (Martin) and Jose Tavares. He was formerly a Fisherman aboard the Seafarer. He liked Fishing, Gardening, and loved Animals.

His Funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 14, 2006 at the Perry Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. Visitng Hours will be on Monday March 13, 2006 from 5-8 P.M. Burial will take place at St. Johns Cemetery.
