Joao Deoliveira "Limas"

New Bedford – Joao DeOliveira "Limas", age 78, of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Julia DeOliveira.

Born on September 18, 1942 in Monte Murtosa, Portugal he was the son of the late Manuel DeOliveira "Limas" and Ilda Martins "Camola". He had worked as a fisherman, as well as, in the construction field. Joao was an avid Benfica fan, playing Sueca and loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids.

Joao’s survivors include his wife, Julia; his daughters, Ilda Soares and her husband Jose, Paula DeOliveira and her wife Florinda Aguiar and Isabel Machado and her husband Paul; grandchildren, Dylan Soares, Cassandra Soares, Brianna Machado and Alexia Machado. He is also survived by his brother, Antonio Oliveira "Limas" and his wife Laura; his sisters, Maria Albina Silva and her late husband Henrique and Ilda Amador and her husband Manuel; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Joao’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering at all times, to social distance 6 feet and to please refrain from any close physical contact. Attendance in the funeral home will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions and could result with a wait time outside of the funeral home.
