Ana (Soares) Melo

New Bedford – Ana S. (Soares) Melo, died Monday, February 27, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Carlos M. Melo Survivors include a daughter: Fernanda Silva of S. Dartmouth and 3 sons: Carlos F. Melo of New Bedford, Michael Melo of Dartmouth and Paul Melo of Oakridge, TN, She was also survived by 8 grandchildren.

Mrs. Melo was born in St. Michael, Azores, and lived in this area for around 31 years. She was the daughter of the late Oscar M. Arruda and Beatriz (Branco) Arruda who lived in Lisbon Portugal. Mrs. Arruda was a former member of St. John Seniors. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Her funeral will be Friday, March 3, 2006, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at 9 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, on County St., New Bedford, MA. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 5 - 8 P.M.
