Jose B. Ribeiro

Dartmouth – Jose B. Ribeiro, age 82, of Dartmouth passed on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. (Paiva) Ribeiro.

Born in Porto de Mós, Portugal he was the son of the late Joao Ribeiro and Luzia (Duarte) Ribeiro. Jose had been the proprietor of the White Rose Bakery in Fall River and later worked as a laborer for the Local 385 until his retirement. He had also been one of the founders of the Portuguese Sports Club of New Bedford.

Jose loved spending time with his family. He loved his fish pond, gardening and had been the go-to handyman for everyone. He also loved soccer, especially Benfica.

Jose is survived by his wife, Margaret Ribeiro; his daughter, MaryAnne Rogers and her husband Edward of Carver, MA; grandson, Austin Rogers and his companion Aly Tinsley of Dartmouth; his step-granddaughter, Jamie Pimental and fiancé Shawn Ferreira of Dartmouth; 2 great-grandsons, Ajay and Aidyn Rogers of Dartmouth; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Elias Fernandes of Dartmouth; his brother, Antonio Ribeiro of Acushnet and his great-niece, Ariana Ribeiro of Fairhaven. He is also survived by 12 godchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jose’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, September 5, 2020. Visiting hours will be held from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes Research Hospital.
